Hi all,

Our girl is due in less then two weeks. We are still undecided but have whittled it down to two options!

What do you think works best out of:-

Lucy O'Neill

or

Elsie O'Neill

Elsie. I prefer Elsie anyways but I also think it has a nicer flow with your surname.

I prefer Elsie with your surname. Both are gorgeous names, but would tend to use Lucy as short for Lucinda or Lucia.

Best wishes

Elsie, I love that name, so it would always be my pick, but they are both nice and work with your surname.

I like both names but I think Lucy with your surname wins by one point only - both are lovely

Lucy for me hands down.  Lovely name while Elsie is an un-favourite by a long way.

I love the name Lucy. Elsie is a nice enough name but I’m just not a big fan of it so Lucy is the pick for me.

Lucy.

I do adore Elsie, but I feel like Lucy has that little bit more style and timelessness. I like PPs suggestions of a longer name for Lucy, too, and think Lucinda is marvellous.

Elsie to me seems like a good little girl name, and a good old lady name, but I’m not sure if it works for the years inbetween! So out of the two, I’d choose Lucy.

I prefer Lucy by miles and I'd  use it myself if it wasn't our first cats name. ☺

I like both, but prefer Lucy.

I love Elsie and I also really like Lucy. Either would be great.

I prefer Lucy. Elsie is lovely too though so agree with pp that with either choice your little one will have a great name.

The popularity of Elsa at the moment would put me off using Elsie. But that’s because my name is similar to another name that is much more commonly used, and I keep having to correct people...

I don't care much for Elsie.

I did use Lucy. Simply ignored the fact that SIL had a dog of the same name earlier in life.

I like Elsie, but they are both good.

They are similar in nature, which is probably why you have a hard time deciding! Both are lovely. For me, it's Elsie by a whisker.

My mother had an Aunt Elsie who bore a resemblance to Jabba The Hut and had a nasty nature to go with her appearance.

Lucy, by a mile.

Both great names.

I’d go Lucy though.

My family name is Elsie. I took lots of static for it in the 90s and 2000s as its a misspelled Elise. My uni graduation certificate is even misspelled to Elise. My daughter's have it as their middle names. Both have had it misspelled multiple times.

For ease, go Lucy!
