Fingers crossed, I hope all goes well with the injections. It does get easier and I find time goes very fast with all the scans and blood tests.

Ck, so sorry to hear that happened again. Hope they get it right the next time, surely they will have the doses sorted. Is trying naturally during the natural cycle an option for you?

Hope everyone else is going well, sorry to anyone I may have missed.

I had my day 8 scan and bloods today and feeling very sad. I had high hopes after 8 weeks of DHEA and a higher FSH but again, only half of my follicles are responding and very unevenly. My estrogen is also quite low at 2000 so I am not really sure whether this cycle will even go ahead. Have to go back tomorrow for a follow up.

Has anyone else had uneven follicle growth and the others catch up? I've got 1 at 18mm and then 7 between 10-15mm. The low estrogen is worrying because I think it signals those smaller ones will not be viable.

CK - I'm so sorry, so frustrating for you. A little holiday sounds like a wonderful idea, where will you go?  I also understand wanting to get started again as well.  Thinking of you, hope you had a nice glass of wine tonight.

Fingers crossed - I hope your first injection went well and I second what hopeful said, it definitely goes much faster being monitored.  You've got this!

Aardvark - haha I can imagine that they wouldn't be very romantic either but YES they can certainly work.

Hopeful - I'm so sorry about your scan.  I don't have any experience with other follicles catching up, I hope tomorrow shows an improvement for you.

I've been busy googling if anyone has had success after abandoning IVF and trying naturally.
I have a family wedding this weekend which I'm looking forward to, we kept this cycle private so won't be talking about it but thankfully because DH works on Saturday's I've been able to say I'll be driving (it's about 2 hours from me) as I need to be home for DS on Saturday.

Hopeful - sorry to hear about your scan. Best of luck for today's follow up.

AFM - i did the first injection last night, woohoo!

I put on some music and made it into a party. Got to get something positive out of this.

Feeling OK except my stomach was quite flat yesterday and today not so flat. I guess I'll be in dresses by next week!

Hi All,

Im back again. Sorry for being away for a very long time.

As most of you know, I had first IVF in March and was negative. then I had gone for second IVF in May and that was also a BFN.

Very very disappointing and feeling very low. Right now taking break from IVF for few months and trying naturally. Both mentally and financially need a break...

FS has told me that trying naturally after 2 IVF failures is fine and can give positive results as my case is unexplained infertility. Fingers crossed, everything goes on fine.

Hope everyone is doing well. Could not catch up with everyone's comments.

My best wishes to all of you...  Baby Dust to all :-)

Lovely to hear from you Diya!

I’m so sorry you are still feeling low. I’m sure your FS has told you it’s perfectly normal for ivf to not work, and it doesn’t mean it won’t ever work. I so hope you have some better luck soon, whether naturally or another FET round at some point.

Good on you Fingerscrossed the first shot is the hardest :)

Ms hopeful I do hope your next scan has a happy turnaround- sending hugs either way.

Enjoy your family wedding Joany!

Welcome back Diya, I have also had unsuccessful IVF in March and May. My FS also said that with unexplained infertility, you can fall pregnant at any time so I think having a break is great. I am on my third round now but if it doesn’t work, I will also take a break.

Thank you for the kind wishes Maufie and Joany. I hope you both enjoy the break and won’t need to go through another round.

Well done with the first injection Fingers! When do you go back for more bloods and scans?

I had another scan and bloods today. Estrogen rose from 2400 to 3500 but that still seems so low to me. Last cycle it was 6000 and I still only got a few empty follies and 2 eggs :(

Really unsure what to do. They’re encouraging EPU on Friday to give the smaller follies another day. I potentially have 3 at the moment and a few at 12-14 they’re hoping may catch up. I am so scared to go through another EPU with such a poor result!

Ms hopeful that’s a tough choice. I reckon with 3 good size follicles you have a good chance of a good egg, so perhaps trust their expertise and experience on this one? In the end though you have to choose what feels right for you.

I also had my first ivf round in March and then subsequent FET in May/June, both unsuccessful. Sadly for DH and I there is zero chance of ever falling pregnant without ivf as DH has azoospermia caused by CBAVD, which is kind of like being born with an irreversible vasectomy. So each month we can’t do ivf used to feel like a total waste of time- I’m getting more used to the idea though that we are completely infertile without assistance, and able to enjoy life again in the meantime while still so looking forward to the next round of assistance ;) with a fresh stim cycle in a couple of months.

Remaining positive and optimistic is really hard sometimes, but we all have good and bad days I think.

How did your shots go tonight Fingerscrossed? Hope they were easier!

Hi Diya V - sorry you've been feeling so low and I was feeling exactly the same after the two failed cycles In Feb/March this year.  I'm not sure if your clinic offers counselling but I found speaking to someone very helpful.  I took 3 months off as I felt I really needed that break mentally so take all the time you need.

Maufie - that must have been a tough diagnosis for you and DH.  I love your outlook and completely agree that we have good and bad days.

Hopeful - I think it's normal to be scared especially when you've had a bad result in the past.  I think your FS would say if he thought it wasn't worth going through EPU though?  I know in this last cycle my FS said he thought that we could do better so suggested to try naturally instead.  I'm sorry I'm not much help and I would feel equally as anxious.

maufie - last night i was like a pro!

Hopeful - I'm back on Friday for a blood test but no scans yet.

You guys are right, the time is going quickly. Will be Friday AM soon.

Feeling OK just a little bloated and a bit tired but nothing too extreme.

Still been exercising but power walking instead of running.

Hi all, have been following along but not posting as I was pretty disappointed with my results, from the 7 still going on day 5 we only had one for testing. Still waiting on the pgs results for that one. Have also had surgery to improve my lining, will be interesting to see the difference (if any) in my lining next month.

Ck - so sorry to hear, your body sure is determined to ovulate no matter what. Hoping next cycle goes better for you.

Aardvark - how are you travelling? When do you expect to transfer?

Jelly - hope time is passing quickly and your appointment is here before you know it.

MsHopeful - did you decide to go ahead with EPU? I had one cycle with lead follicles on each ovary and a bunch of smaller ones. I ended up with 3 collected from one ovary, not sure why we didn't get any from the other ovary.

Joany - good luck, when will you be testing?

FingersCrossed - welcome to the ivf rollercoaster. Hope your bloods show everything on track tomorrow.

Diya - so good to hear from you, sorry you haven't had success yet, I hope you get your bfp soon.

Hey maufie, when is your next cycle starting?

Hey theia - great to hear from you!

What type of surgery was it to improve your lining? I hope you are recovering well. Got my fingers crossed for your pgs results.

And thanks for the welcome to the rollercoaster. Just want to know what's going on in there now!

Hi fingerscrossed, essentially they made small incisions in my uterus and then infused plasma made from my blood. Thankfully it was not painful at all. Now back to the waiting game.

Not long before you have a scan, it's quite fascinating really if you can ignore the emotion of it all.

#15 FingersCrossed123

wow that is so interesting. It's amazing what they can do.

Yes I find the scientific side of this all so fascinating.

Theia, thanks for explaining. that is super interesting. I have heard they do something similar overseas to rejuvenate ovaries (something I am keeping in mind for the future ...). I hope it makes the difference for you. The waiting must suck

Fingerscrossed I hope your first scan date comes quickly. Chubby bellies are a good sign! And at least you know which pants will fit you in the early months of pregnancy !

Diya good to hear from you. I hope you are keeping well

mshopeful, I hope those slow follies have caught up. They can still grow after trigger. are you going in for EPU tomorrow? best of luck

Joany - what you described (success after abandoning ivf) is done quite a lot in the US eg timed intercourse after stims so I believe it can work. If i wasn't single, I would be giving this a try (I joke that I have male factor infertility. as in I lack a male factor)

Jelly, Aardvark, Maufie hope you are all well

Hi Theia, I hope that one embie will pass the pgs screen and the procedure you had will help with the lining! When will you find out about the pgs results?

Fingers Crossed, hope your bloods go well tomorrow. Bloating is a good sign during stims!

Thank you ck, Joany and maufie for the good luck wishes! Joany, I hope the tww is passing quickly for you.

I have decided to go through with EPU tomorrow, we have spent so much on the Saizen injections and my FS is hoping for better quality despite low numbers.

I am a nervous wreck, especially because instead of the usual Ovidrel trigger, I had to do a Synarel trigger and I have convinced myself it will not work and I will ovulate before collection! Just wish I could get it over and done with already.

Hopeful - EPU DAY!!  I'm so excited for you and sending lots of luck your way that you've got some lovely looking eggs in there.

Theia - I could imagine it being so disheartening when you have 5 good blasts but only one can be tested, it's such a higher standard to get to testing isn't it which makes the journey much harder I feel. Crossing my fingers and toes for a positive PGS result for you.  It's pretty incredible what they can do for your lining and I'm glad it wasn't painful (even though it sounds it).

CK - that makes sense as most of the forum's I found were from the US.  They also do a lot more IUI's over there from what I was reading.  I don't know why they aren't encouraged as much here? I wonder if it's because in the US they don't have any type of rebate so it's a lot cheaper.  I remember watching the Netflix documentary One More Shot and it costs over $20,000 for one cycle!!!  We are very fortunate here in that sense. Haha male infertility, I love that (and love your sense of humour).

Fingers crossed - hope BT goes well today and that you're feeling ok.

I had BT yesterday and progesterone was at 50 (they want it at 20) so just hoping the sperm found the egg and it's nestling in. I go between being optimistic and then convinced AF is coming and I still have a whole week to go to BT or AF depending what comes first. Hope everyone has something fun planned for the weekend.

Hi everyone,

Had my BT this morning and got the call to increase my dose of Gonal F from 150 to 175 tonight and not to start any other medicine yet. Then back for another BT on Monday and no scan booked yet.

So I guess the levels aren't high enough yet.

It was someone from the specialist's office calling rather than the nurse so I didn't ask any more questions.

I guess this is normal as it's the first time seeing how I react to the drugs?

#20 MsHopeful18

Posted 03 August 2018 - 03:55 PM

Hey Fingers Crossed, they are just getting to know how you respond to the meds, so it’s totally normal and good they’re monitoring closely. Just means your estrogen isn’t high enough yet but it’s very early days.

Thanks for your thoughts and encouragement Joany! I got 6 eggs which is more than I thought based on the scans, just still thought I would get more based on the kind of aggressive protocol!! Have to think happy and positive thoughts that all those eggs will fertilise and turn into strong embies! How long more of the tww for you to go?

#21 FingersCrossed123

Posted 03 August 2018 - 04:54 PM

Thanks hopeful and wow great numbers on your epu when you though you might only have 3!

FX for your embies over the next few days :)

Hope you are feeling ok after the epu

Hopeful that's great news. I hope you are well rested.

Fingers crossed absolutely it's trial and error. And starting low and inching up is easier than scaling down.

@joany- I think they do more IUI in the US because it's cheaper and if you have private health insurance they sometimes mandate that you do X number of IUIs before they move to IVF. Whereas here I think the doctors just move you to IVF because it has higher success rates on average. Also if you do stimulated IUI there is a higher chance of multiples which they try to avoid. But since I have early ovulation issues i am actually going to get another referral to a different clinic so I can try unmedicated IUI again. My clinic only lets me do max 2 (which I did last year) because I am using donor sperm and I guess they don't want to "waste" it on IUI. But some sperm near my ovaries is better chance than no sperm

I watched one last shot also and cried so much. We are so lucky to live in a country where access to healthcare is so much accessible (even if it still is expensive).

I met with my FS yesterday to talk through a plan for next cycle. I am going to do a flare cycle with synarel so a very different tactic

Hopeful - 6 is a great number!  I hope you get a good fertilisation report today.  BT for me is Friday 10th, AF arrived before BT last FET so unsure of what to expect this time round.

CK - I wonder if that's why they wouldn't do the IUI for me? Due to the risk of multiples.  I think it's about a 5% chance of falling pregnant naturally each month and the nurse told me I had a 15-20% chance of twins but assume that 5% would increase if they did an IUI. I'm not sure if that makes sense....I'm having trouble explaining it.
How do you feel about the change?  I didn't realise you've been going through AC since last year.  What a long journey it's been for you.  An unmedicated IUI sounds a lot less invasive than IVF as well, that sounds like a good option as well. Will you have a month off?

Fingers crossed - glad they're monitoring you so closely hope you're still feeling good.

Hi Joany, ah not long to go. I always find the last few days the worst. Hope you keep busy and manage to have a good weekend.

Ck, it sounds like a good plan to try something new. It sure has been a long journey for you.

I got the call that 4/6 fertilised. I don’t know why I feel so negative this time, maybe I had too high expectations because this has been our worst fertilisation yet and I was hoping for 5-6 embryos. Mine always seem to drop off between days 3 to 5 so I feel so anxious we won’t get any blastocysts again. Have to try and keep busy and think happy thoughts I guess.

#25 ckmelb

Mshopeful sorry to hear you didn't get the result you wanted but hoping your keeper is in that 4

Joany that does make sense. With IUI the sperm has less distance to swim so the chances of success are higher

This is actually only my 8th month TTC. I first got a referral 12 months ago when all my tests came back low. Last year I sorted out my endemetriosis (yay no more period pain for now) and had the 2 IUIs. So the IVF part started in Jan for me. I am happy that I have a couple of different plans to try in the future. I am going to do the flare cycle, then have a break and go on hols then have the unmedicated IUI as my body will need a break. But hopefully I won't need all those steps ...
