I’m booked in for my c-section first thing tomorrow and am at a loss for a middle name that works with Imogen. I’d prefer a one or two syllable name as she will also have a double barrelled surname. I had wanted to use Carol, as it’s the name of a close family friend who is dying, however my partner hates it. Please help!

Rose?

Melody to go with Carol

Imogen Rose was the alternate name for DD. Rose is DHs mums middle name.

I love the name Imogen.

Some of my one-syllable favourites:
Clare
Mae
Blythe - I love that it means happiness and rarer than Joy. (though Joy can be cute too)
Rain
Lee - or Lys if you don't mind the non-phonetic aspect and like the 'lily' meaning.
Faith and Fay

for two-syllable ones I like:
Celeste
Soleil
Lila

Carol is derived from the same name as Charlotte/Charlene/Charlize if those help at all or feel connected enough for you.

I like Imogen Blythe, Imogen Celeste, and Imogen Charlotte best of each category at this exact moment I think.

I would be so tempted to go with Winter to mark the solstice tomorrow, although I know it is a bit cutesy. Imogen Winter does work well.

Imogen Marie and Imogen Elsie are the 2 I know.

Names that have some kind of semblance to carol:
Cara, Caro, Clara, Carla, Ola, Orla
Christina, Holly, Ivy any Christmas related names.

Does your friend have a nickname, favourite flower, place that's special to her/you.
I've heard of Matisse, Lila, Rose, Ivy and Myrtle used as ways to remember people without using their names.

I know my best friend at school had a middle name that was his grandfather's birth place or something.

Me three for Imogen Grace. Maybe DH will change on Carol tomorrow as it goes well too. Is it bub number 1? Will he be awed by what you'll go through?! Pull those heart strings lol!

First c section? Mine was lovely. Tip, it takes far longer to stitch back together than it does to cut! I wish someone had told us that. We freaked a bit.

All the very best for tomorrow.

I had thought of Grace, it does go well, but I feel like it’s maybe too obvious? I assume there’d be quite a few Imogen Grace’s out there.

Thank you :)

It’s actually bub number three and my third c-section.  He’s not going to change his mind sadly :(

My other two are Elliot Anders and Owen Jude, so I’m hoping for something that goes well with them too. I really struggle with girl names.

Thanks for your help :)

Can you ask your friend Carol for some suggestions and if you end up picking one of those your friend is given the honour of helping choose your daughter’s name.
