buckle up

It's a name thread

I'm 7 weeks pregnant and I saw the heartbeat and do you know what that means? Time to irritate EB with a name thread.

Girls

Isidora - we like Izzy, we like Dot, we like having a long name with nicknames.
Ivy - I like how simple it is, and I like botanicals.  Only downside no nicknames
Vivienne - Like the meaning, like Vivi, the meaning sorta balances it not being one of the initials I especially wanted to use for a girl (I or M)
Iris - I love the flower/rainbow thing.

Middle name will probably be May if the first name is long and something like Miriam/Matilda/Marceline if the first name is short. Or DH suggested Rhiannon and thinks Isidora Rhiannon isn't too long but I think it is.

Boys
Leonardo - DH's fave. Leo is fine as a nickname.
Ezra - Has no nickname. The Biblical-but-not-super-long style I like
Isaac - There's an issue where we don't pronounce this the same way but I'm okay with it.
Huon - I like Huon a lot, feels nature-y and uses an initial I'd like to use. DH thinks I'm mad as a hatter.
Saul - DH surprised me by not objecting to this when I suggested it.

Middle name will probably be Hale or Tzvi/Zvi.

Eli and Levi are names I like but taken by relatives.

I'll be back and even more annoying later! love youse

Congratulations and best of luck with the name hunt. I don't have any suggestions but am very curious how you both pronounce Isaac? I only know one way to say it and can't think how else it could be said.

DH says eye-zaaack. Like the name Zack.

I say EYE-zik. It's a shorter, neutral vowel sound.

Both are all right pronunciations but one is more Australian and one is more American, which makes sense for us being who we are, lol.

Congratulations!

Isidora is OK but I prefer it spelt Isadora.  Vivienne & Ivy are beautiful but not a fan of Iris.

I like all your boys names except Huon.  What about Ezekiel with Zeke for short?

Congratulations

I’m glad to see Jonathon is not on the list :)

I like Vivienne and Saul but if you chose Vivenne/Vyvyan as your girl/boy choice - for me you would be “she who must be obeyed” on this board!

Of the list I like

Ivy & Isaac

(to me if I had to pronounce it would be 'I-zack' - of course not saying what is right or wrong just what I would say)

Isidora seemed less Isabella-ish, which Isabella has baggage in my family. Probably everyone will think "Izzy" is short for Isabel/Isabella anyway though.

I like Zeke (and Zach, and Zed) but the longer they get the more DH does not approve. He said no Ezekiel, Zacharias, or Zebulon. My sister loves Ezekiel so much and he was like "good, we can't use it, your sister is saving it, I always liked your sister"

Annoy away - so glad to read your news!

DS goes to kinder with a Leonardo - he's a sweetie - his mother calls him 'Nardo' for short.

Saul is lovely but, if you have American accents, it will sound strange when constantly changed from American to Australian English - not a problem  in itself.  DS has a name that's very English with a diphthong and it's hard for Australian's to pronounce - sometimes it's awkward.

Yessssss!!!!! Congratulations 😍

Isaac Hale is lovely.

And Ivy Matilda.

I love all your girls names.

We're one of each - husband is all-Aussie with a fairly thick Strayan accent, I'm sort of... blending... but still noticeably American/Canadian sounding.

Saul I don't hear him a big gulf. Not like Isaac. Or Graham! (We're not using Graham)

Huon!! DH and I both love it but DH strongly dislikes Hugh and is worried about it getting shortened to that so I think we’ll use  it as a middle name. Although I’m still working on him.
I prefer Isadora with nickname dot, gorgeous! Or Vivienne is lovely too.
Actually I like all your names.

I love love love Vivienne for a girl. If I had my time over....

My pick of your boy names would be Ezra. FWIW I know an Ezra who gets Ez or Ezzie as a nickname - lovely boy.
