Hi ladies, welcome to the new mamas and congrats to those who have had nice scans!!
Cams, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Sending you comfort, be kind to yourself.
I'm going OK, I've still got a little spotting but I think it's the pessaries I'm on, I'm going to ring my nurses this morning and see what they say. I definitely feel pregnant, v sore boobs, nausea, tired & cranky... I've got first scan on Monday, so all will be revealed then!
Carrie - I don't feel like telling ppl either. I'm sorry to hear about your friend who is so ill & your friend going thru IVF. Our son + this one were IVF and you're right, it's difficult to hear the news, but I'm sure you'll be sensitive about it and it will be OK. I had a friend become preg with ID twins and complain about it as I had an early loss, and another 2 people separately tell me they were having terminations, it sent me spiralling but none of these ppl knew what I was going thru so they had no filter or context.
I've had to tell a few ppl but especially work I don't want to tell until I absolutely have to. It's a very stressful workplace at the moment but I work remotely so I'm just going to try to keep my head down and out of the stress for a few months and hopefully not go back to that place.
Blah blah blah brain dump! Hope you ladies all have a wonderful day.

Morning everyone! How are you all?
I'm also not really telling people. I've told my PT and physio, and a couple of close friends but won't tell anyone else, including family, until after the NIPT results at least. What about everyone else?
NIPT (non invasive prenatal testing) is to test for chromosomal abnormalities such as Downs. I am in the slightly higher risk group because of my age, but had it done with my son too. It was great to have peace of mind, and also to know the gender so early on. Prices have come down a lot now too; was about $1000 when i first had it done compared to $450 this time around.

DH keeps asking when we can tell people...he doesnt get it he just wants people to know.
He told a guy he works with (who we are friends with outside work) in a moment of weakness and i flipped, if his wife finds out then the cats out of the bag, shes the person that always asks at the top of her voice in a crowd of people ARE YOU PREGNANT!! and then hounds you about it if for any reason at all you say no to a drink at a gathering

i know it must feel hard to have this news while your friends are going through so much but a baby is a blessing as much as it would hurt when my friends told me they were pregnant as i was trying and nothing happening i was still over the moon for them. its such a tricky situation but we're all here for you
nimble- thank you for clarifying, i have the forms to have that done too i'm just waiting to book after my next US. i think i would just need the peace of mind too.
carietarool - that would drive me nuts! ah! hopefully it stays quiet until you're ready to share the news
brightfuture - i hope your work place settles for you! like your name suggests, you have a bright future ahead

Happy Friday all (those who are still with us..) What's on for the weekend?
I have nothing planned which is just wonderful. Well, other than the kids sporting things. Very much in hibernation mode at the moment, and this freezing cold weather certainly enables that.
Is anyone else eating silly amounts more than usual? I am normally a snacker but I just can't stop.
Posted 14 July 2017 - 06:14 PM
Nimble all i want to do in 1st trimester is hibernate by the fire! I become the biggest hermit.
We just have kids sports tomorrow morning and DH plays rugby in arvo..he wants us to go out for dinner with his rugby mates tomorrow after the game but im not keen....would way rather be home warm in pjs than wrangling 3 kids in a restaurant!
Yep im with you in the silly amounts of eating....after a while without food i feel so nauseous that i dont want to eat anything at all and nothing is appealing so i have to force something down to feel better, but once i do feel better then i just keep right on eating...and all bad foods too...carbs carbs carbs!

Hey everyone! That would be so frustrating Carrie... we have told most of our immediate family now at 8 weeks.
I had another scan this morning - all good! 148bpm, and got to hear it. Pretty amazing, made it feel so much more real...
Posted 15 July 2017 - 12:10 PM
Yay Mingles so glad all was well at your scan!! Theres nothing better than seeing and hearing that little heart beating away!!
Posted 17 July 2017 - 09:28 AM
Great news Mingles! So reassuring, eh?
How is everyone going? I've picked up a nasty cold/throat infection and it's so frustrating not being able to dose myself up on the normal meds. Definitely ready for winter to be over.
Other than that, not feeling remotely pregnant even though almost 9 weeks. Bizarre.
Posted 17 July 2017 - 01:02 PM
Oh that's great news mingles!
Nimble that sucks, hopefully your cold won't last too long.
I am having the worst morning sickness, I spent all Sunday in bed as I was just too nauseous to function, had to make myself eat saladas and try to keep up the water, I'm being very lazy at work today as I just have zero energy. Anyone else have ways to get through this? It'll end soon right? Fingers crossed

Hoolio8 I can sympathise, I have felt like that the past few weeks now. I got maxalon from the dr plus taking restavit and b6, also using acupressure bands. Anything to try and help relieve the nausea! Works sometimes, sometime just takes the edge off enough to function, other times not at all!
Apart from the m/s I am feeling very pregnant! Sore boobs, mood swings, belly has popped!
Need to organise my next scan and remember to get bloods taken, can't wait to see our little bubba!!
Hope your feeling better nimble, I've just gotten over a 3week long cold, it's the pits!
Yay mingles, always so exciting to see

Thanks ladies hope your MS eases soon... I've had more issues with indigestion lately. Just a few more weeks until trimester 2, right, right?!
Nimble, have you had the flu shot? I had it recently and they said I shouldn't get a cold or flu now (So far so good). It's also free for pregnant ladies!
Posted 18 July 2017 - 11:53 AM
Good to see all going well
But, sorry to see a couple of you with awful MS.
Nimble - yes I could eat a few horses too! Me right now: Double meals at every meal, feeling a bit sick? eat. feeling a bit tired? eat.
Mingles - yay for a beautiful scan! We had ours yesterday and they played the HB as well, so beautiful.
I'm off to my first OB appt on Monday, looking forward to that and getting the care plan & maybe a c sec date? Last one was emergency so not sure if they'll book it in this early or wait a bit... Also our hospital is about to move to a brand new building, yay looking forward to it being nice and fresh, hoping for a tour once it opens.
Definitely ready for winter to be over...

Hi everyone... we are all edging closer to end of first trimester thank goodness! Hopefully an end to the morning sickness is in sight for us all in the next few weeks!
Had my first appt with OB today and had a scan beforehand, he was surprised to see me back so soon haha. But all looks good so far, baby measuring 9wk 4days and heart bpm 173. The baby was kicking its legs and waving its arms....it blows my mind how quickly they transform from a little blob to actually looking like a baby!!
Got my request form for the NIPT test to do next friday.
He said at next appointment for 12wk scan he will book c section date i was like omg!!!so soon!

Sorry to hear how some of you are really suffering from morning sickness. Hope it is very short lived, and a completely distant memory by the 2nd trimester.
Carrie - wow, that's crazy you could see bub kicking and waving. I can't remember seeing that so early, and i can't imagine it at all right now. Awesome though!
Mingles - had the flu shot a couple of months ago but clearly didn't cover whatever strain i have just had. Thankfully it seems to be short lived though, and am heaps better today. How's your indigestion going? Not fun
Seems like a few of us are going the c-section route. Will be bizarre knowing the birth date in advance!
Posted 18 July 2017 - 04:27 PM
i dont remember seeing it move this early either - the lady doing the ultrasound recorded it and put it on a disc so i could show DH who couldnt make it there with me today. Ive watched it like 20 times haha!
C-sect is all Ive ever known - its always been planned in advance for me - I cant even imagine just waiting to go into labour whenever! (although I always secretly hoped with each pregnancy that I would go into spontaneous labour before c-sect date so i could experience it- except for the first pregnancy in which case it would have been dangerous!)
im glad to hear you are feeling better Nimble! i agree bright*future I cant wait for winter to be over either. we have been stuck on a never-ending loop of sickness here - bring on spring!

Hi Ladies, jumping in on the group if that's ok. I'm 11w 3d with 4th pregnancy but only have one 7 year old DD. Had a miscarriage and triploidy pregnancy in 2013 and haven't been pregnant since. Was about to do first round of IVF on return from a 3 week US trip and turns out holiday did the trick. Official due date is 5th Feb but will have c section. Get my harmony results tomorrow and have a scan on Friday. Super anxious for both. Looking forward to getting to know everyone in the next few months

Hi Chooky & huge congrats on your long awaited pregnancy! I hope that your results are all ok, it is an awful wait isn't it - one thing after another until they're in your arms. Have you had the harmony result yet - hope all ok. Let us know how you go!
Posted 20 July 2017 - 08:33 PM
Welcome chooky and congratulations!!
I hope your harmony results were great and the same for your scan tomorrow, its such an anxious time of waiting especially after what you've been through xx
Posted 20 July 2017 - 09:01 PM
Thanks Ladies - Harmony results were all good and such a relief!! Now onto the scan and then hopefully can start to enjoy it a little x
Posted 21 July 2017 - 11:32 AM
Welcome Chooky! Great news on Harmony results. Let us know how the scan goes.
How is everyone's week going? I have struggled a bit with my very unhelpful / unsupportive DH. It, at times, makes me wish this pregnancy away (which I know is an awful thing). I am practically a single mum as it is, and i worry how tough it is going to be with a newborn too. We have no family in Sydney; well DH does but he's not talking to them so i am banned from doing so too. Seeing my old psychologist on Monday as i know these thoughts are detrimental.
All i want is large glass of wine aaarrgghhhhh
Posted 21 July 2017 - 11:49 PM
So sorry to hear this Nimble, that has to be very tough. Would he open to go to counselling with you? Do you think he thinks there's a problem? Where are your family based? 20 questions! I hope you have some good friends you can lean on. Be kind to yourself x
