The AFL Women's league has started! I missed the first match last night, but am streaming Crows v Giants and will definitely watch the Dockers' first match tonight.

Who else is watching? Who are you barracking for?

I'm impressed with the play - they're obviously inexperienced (through no fault of their own) but they play well together, and I reckon it's going to be a great season.

We watched last night as anything Collingwood is compulsory around here (sigh). They lost big time.

I was very pleased they were not wearing skin tight outfits like almost every other women's sport.

BBC, I'm a Dockers fan... I feel your pain! I'm really enjoying the games, some really good football being played. I'm pleased about the outfits too, and overall happy with the way it's being handled. I'm keen to get along to a game in WA.

I've been watching it on and off, probably not as much as if my team had a team playing in the wfl I'm just going to have to find a team, maybe Carlton because my grandmother goes for them and I know one of the players.

I have loved it. I'm a Crows fan so it helps that we have a team in it. I knew the women in our team were from both SA and NT but until tonight I had no idea they had been training separately and had only gotten together twice since Christmas. That makes this win all the more sweet.

I am annoyed at some AFL "fans" bagging it though. Whinging about the skills and speed of the game. Don't they realise that men have been encouraged and mentored through this game for over a century? Women have been forced to stop playing by U13's until fairly recently when they still weren't/aren't allowed to play until at least 16. Not to mention the huge differences. These women are part time players and many have other jobs. The pay ranges from $8k - $27k. It's not a liveable wage. They can't train as often or as much or spend all their time on strategies and politics etc (which is also very refreshing imo).

Anyway, I love the game, I love that women are now involved in a playing aspect and I can't wait to see more.

Oh and I'm secretly hoping for 3 out of 3 grand final trophies by the end of the year (women, men and reserves team).

Great contests in both games I watched, and some amazing talent emerging. Go Doggies

Anyone caught the games this weekend? I've been sick since Thursday, so I've been asleep or looking after sick DD most of the weekend.
Finally have a moment to myself and it looks like I'm going to miss the Dockers' game, because it's not on FTA tv and the live stream requires Foxtel Go or AFL Live Pass or... I don't know. I'm still too wiped to figure it out! Guess I'll watch the replay online later. Would've loved to go in person today, but alas. Maybe next home game!

We stood in the pouring rain to watch Brisbane win last week. The game and atmosphere was fantastic. Not often the Lions win in Melbourne these days.

I don't like it, I reckon it's just a novelty.

Yep, DH said the other week we could have 3 trophies this year.

One of the girls in the Crows team plays for our local club where DS plays.

Hoping for a Dockers win this weekend so not so much pressure on us having to beat Collingwood.

I haven't managed to get to a game. Was hoping for a GF at The Oval but not sure we can pull that off now, can we?

I don't like AFL but my dad is watching it!
My MIL (who is afl obsessed) isn't watching it because "I'm so worried those poor girls might get hurt." Silly silly woman, I can only hope her opinions won't influence my daughter too much.

No chance. It's a Brisbane home final guaranteed. We have a very very good chance of making it in though. Fingers crossed.

Not sure how the Vics will survive if it is a Brisbane / Adelaide grandfinal.

So Melbourne had a brilliant win today. The Crows are the only team that can push them out of 2nd spot with a win tomorrow. Come on Crows!!

Can someone tell me what time the Crows are playing tomorrow? I'm failing at following fixtures right now - I don't even know if the JLT is finished and when the season starts - next weekend is it?
