February's Sewing Challenge

HI!

All are welcome - participate, watch, discuss, lurk, do one, do all, do none,  it's all free game here :thumbs:

I try to pick challenges that suited everyone - clothes are difficult as we are the entire rainbow here on EB so I hope I picked okay.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyway - Rules-
The EB Sewing Challenge is for those of us who sew, but lack push/drive/friends/chat and gives a place for that.
Each month, we will post three challenges - Newbie (For those that have never sewn before), Beginner (For those who sew basic,easy stuff), Intermediate (For those that can do all sorts but not quite at Expert level)
and WIP - Work In Progress - where you finally complete that item that has been sitting in a pile/bag/drawer for the past weeks/months/years.
Finally, show off your completed item here by the end of the month!!
Fixed for me! Thanks.
I'm going to aim for a caddy. Probably not this one as I won't use it (and can't think of anyone who will) but I have a couple of tool caddy patterns on the to do list so I'll dig them out.
The UFO should be quilting a quilt. It's just tooooooooooo hhhooooooottttttttt........
I'm over summer.
Well I've knocked over the WIP/UFO component. Have been meaning to make a final couple of placemats to use up some chilli fabric I have. Did two on the weekend. The other fabric in the bag (was going to be more placemats) has been bundled up to sell or giveaway. One bag less in the UFO pile. Yay!
Wow foom, that looks great!!
I'm very interested in any leftover chilli fabric you might be looking at moving on?
That's very cool foom - nice work.
I don't think I'll be doing the challenge this month.  I'm still working slowly through this coat and I don't want to add anything else into the mix, hopefully by next month I'll  have some spare sewing time for other things.
Hi All,
GF the projects you chose this month look great! I'll be lurking but no sewing for me unfortunately as I've had appendicitis and just had my appendix removed. But I look forward to seeing what everybody makes! Will be a great distraction.
Go forth and sew!
I will be watching; I have a second magazine quilt to finish (or you know, start....) so I will be hiding out surrounded by fabric.
Yes thanks I'm recovering from surgery and am well taken care of. Never ignore stomach pains though! Always better to get checked out because I would have never thought I had appendicitis but it was the early signs and if I had left it I would have really been a mess and ended up in ER.
I have Jan 2016's awards and certificates ready - I will message everyone a link, If you prefer a posted certificate, then simply pm me your address. Note - we just got accepted for a new house so I am moving in the next few weeks, so NO idea when I might lose internet access.
I'm halfway through half the blocks, if that makes sense (two different sets of blocks for this one). Have a few days off next week (some very minor surgery) which should give me time to catch up a bit.
If you can find a copy of Down Under Quilts from December, I have a quilt in that one...
Hi  :waves:
I tried to join in on January's challenge. I got most of the way through a pair of fishermans pants and discovered that they look hideous with my rather large thighs and butt. I would not have been able to fold over the back at all and the thighs just fit. So rather than finish for the sake of finishing, I stopped. At this point I can at least save most of the fabric for something in the future. I did at least do my first successful french seam on the crotch, so I learnt something useful in that time.
Which comes to excuse number two. Since I haven't sewn in such a long time (other than taking up hems) I have learnt just how much DS2 17mths hates the sound of the machine. He will scream until I pick up him and sit him on my lap, will attempt to stick his fingers under the needle of course, then just screams more when I stop him. So... not much sewing will be taking place around here as I pretty much have no time in the house without my boys around.
I will be attempting to finish a couple of WIPs from before my boys arrived (DS1 is 4.5!). So hopefully I'll be able to show something soon! But no clothes for a while I think.
Good luck everyone!
Hope the move goes well GF!
