Quick question, do you think just over $2,000 is a good price for flights for 2 adults & 2 kids to Tasmania over Easter?  Does it ever get any cheaper?

Might help if you say where from!

Doesn't sound too bad. There are $69 Gold Coast to Hobart on Jetstar today, but they are for may/June.

I haven't flown Tas to Qld for many years but Easter prices are generally huge. Last you I had to pay 600 return until to Mel for one adult and one child!

We paid similar to that at Christmas.. (a bit less but we had booked 9 months in advance!)

I've looked at Jetstar and they are a little cheaper, but the only return flights I can get involve a choice between a 7 hour wait or an 8 hour wait at Melbourne aiport!   wacko.gif

For Easter that sounds about right. Outside peak times would be a bit less.

Tell me when you book and I'll tell you where David Foster lives!

You too may get a celebrity sighting!

Of course!

It is interspersed with places to eat though...

David Foster - chocolate, cider and cherries

Rebecca Gibney - good pies

Ah.... might need to give me a little more time to work on it..

If it's return and peak period then yes that sounds about right. Flights are a little cheaper in March I've found. Also, if you go from Brisbane to Sydney or Melbourne and then to Launceston or Hobart it will generally be much cheaper than a direct flight (if you can get same day flights of course). I've spent hours on the phone to Virgin airlines trying to work out the cheapest flights to get my little sister from Ballina to Launceston and they were really helpful, checked several dates and airports for me. Give them a call. Tasmania is beautiful, I would never want to live anywhere else. Good luck.

Perfect!  I intend to eat my away around the island this time!  wink.gif

Thanks Neriah!  I was trying to sneak a flight in March but I suppose the 29th is a bit too late!

not bad really, 3 adults (1 being a 12 yo) and a child either side of christmas this year is $1770+

Don't be scared to book different airlines for each way.  We do it all the time.  Often saves money.

Oh, and often Launceston is cheaper than Hobart.
