I went to one interstate and didn't think much of it. Im hoping they are going to be bigger than the one we went to?? Not a lot of stock to choose from but they did have good prices. Apparently though it is going to take years for them to get set up here. They have to source sites for their warehouse and the stores themselves. Will be interesting to see exactly when the first store is going to open.

This is one of the most exciting things I've heard this year! I adore ALDI, it's a shame it will take so long for them to get stores up and running, though I understand why. Hurry up!!

What will it do to our Foodlands?

I'm unconvinced and will probably remain loyal to our local stores & products as best I can.

I think you can find their 'shopping list' on their website. Their everyday items have a limited range of products mainly in their own brand such as like shopping woollies select.  Special buys can be gone within minutes of the store opening or hang around for months to eventually be marked down. All the stores i have been to in Brisbane have been pretty similiar to each other.

Love the fact that they are so easy to return products to if your not happy for any reason and these days they will ring around their local stores for you if they have run out of something.

It's so easy to return stuff as their stuff is so crap they're used to it being returned. wink.gif

I hope you're all not bitterly disappointed when it comes and you realise it's just a shop with a few "homebrand" items that are just like all the other homebrand items in the stores you're already going to. wink.gif

About 2/3 SA foodlands are owned by big companies (Drake, Romeos) anyway, so I don't think it makes much difference.

Can't wait, loved both Aldi & Lidle when I was backpacking in Europe & living in the Scotland, we saved a lot of money.

DP said we would go to Aldi abut once every 3month for basic stuff that will last ages & during the week its our local Foodland, win win.. biggrin.gif

Isn't this still about 5 years away. There has been talk about this for years and years.

I shop at foodland and coles. I guess this will hopefully just be good for competition. From what I have heard Aldi isn't all that wonderful.
