But objectors say the market damages the park, degrades local property values, was noisy and created parking hassles.

complaints about noise from a bouncy castle

This area of Melbourne is on the far north rural fringe, we're not talking about some inner city parking issue here.

And as for damagng the park... surely that's what community parks are for... to be used ?!!  Surely the council expects a level of maintenance not just sitting there pristine (due to lack of use)

This is what is killing our countries community spirit, self centred knobs who are so freaking entitled they can't deal with noise from a jumping castle for a couple of hours a month.... far out.

I know, its a seemingly small issue, but to me it reflect where some peoples head's are at and why the system is clogged with petty non issues that people could just deal with themselves, instead of expecting the world to change for their minor comfort issues....

As far as I'm aware, this is based on the complaint of a single person. The CWA out here does amazing things in the community, this story is really frustrating.

As for decreasing property values, I'd rather have a home in the midst of a thriving community where people come together to help their fellow creatures than in some soulless mausoleum where everyone stays indoors and minds their own business. I don't think I'm alone in that either.

I am so glad the market is continuing and the complaints of one are not ruining it for all.

Good on the council!

In our town there is a Sunday market held next door to the fire station, every week there will be idiots who park over the doors to the garage! (yes the doors that let the fire trucks out!)

In spite of this our local fire chief hasn't lost his lolly and agreed to the fire brigade's members repeated requests that they fence off the area because in his words "The town NEEDS this market!" so every Sunday a fire brigade volunteer is down there to tell people to 'Keep Clear Please'.

The ones who park all over the fire station regular parking spots are just parked in by fire fighters if there is a call out!
