I pretty much know from the outset that this name won't get a great response on EB but thought I'd put it out there anyway.

DH is desperately trying to get me to add Vedder to the baby names list. He has been told if it makes the list it will be strictly middle name potential.  DH is a die hard Pearl Jam/ Eddie Vedder fan thus wanting to use Vedder. For a number of reasons we won't be using family names as middle names but still want to use something that is meaningful to us.

DH is floating Ari Vedder as a name that he really likes.  I quite like Ari but I'm not so sure about Vedder. I want to like it for his sake but I just dont' know closedeyes.gif

I would use it, how often do you get called by your full name.

For a middle name I'd use it. Keeps your Dh happy and may give you more mojo in picking the first name if you're not set on Ari.

Could you not use Edward as a middle name as a nod to Eddie?

I wouldn't use it, but I think it's fine. Go for it! original.gif

Pearl Jam fan here ~ why not go something a little 'Vedder' unique like 'Severson' (from memory, that was one of Eddies middle names)?

It was his birth surname. Just ran that past DH as a option & got a resounding no.

Edward is FIL's name, otherwise it would be in contention from my POV if DH really wanted a Pearl Jam/Eddie Vedder tribute.

I think it's a great middle name - why not pay tribute to someone who means alot to your DH? That said, first name'd be a bit much...

My DD's middle name is a town that we love, she can use it or not as she likes.

I'd use Eddie, myself...

As a MN only though, if it means you get first choice of FN, then maybe. As a FN, there is no way I'd even consider it.

I am a firm believer that a middle name should hold some meaning, so I am a big yay on this one. Personally would not use as a first name but I am a bit conservative when it comes to first names.

I have a really plain middle name, Anne, it is not a family name, it has no meaning, it just flows well with my first name. It is really pointless. I like a middle name which could be used as an alternative, for example you name your DD Dolly, the middle name would be something more conventional in case Dolly wanted something more serious when older or a name which has a story ie a name which your husband loved because it was an idol but you don't want to use it as a first.

Go for it.

Or a mn which honours a family member...

Love it, but then again I love the man himself original.gif

I wanted to name DS Vedder or Eddie but DH wouldn't let me. I also tried for Lukin but that got squashed too.

I kind of get where he's coming from.  My brother's middle name is ELVIS!  So I guess I'm a bit sympathetic, and as a middle name, why not?

I have an Ari, so totally biased on his first name choice Tounge1.gif

Speaking of Vedder I hope we are getting a tour here this year. I'm am very grateful they didn't come last year as I would have missed out but it has been 3.5 long years since I last saw them and I am in dire need here.

I'm not a fan of the name at all but for a middle name I'd do it. I love Ari.

I know a little boy who has Vedder as his middle name.
His mother is a big Pearl Jam fan. I like it.

We considered Kiedis for DS as a nod to Chilli Pepper Anthony Kiedis but it didn't go with our surname. Bah!

Nothing wrong with it as a MN and Ari Vedder goes well.  A bit different without being crazy different.

Talking of Ari (which I really like), I recently met a little boy called Arian. I think I actually like that better than just Ari.

Hellooo, I repeat, ELVIS!  How is that worse?  He's 36 and gets along just fine with it!
