I really liked the acknowledgment that they need fishermen and scientists to work together - it's kind of obvious but a great example of how people who might normally scorn what they perceive as disconnected academia can actually contribute real practical knowhow and do things that the academics cannot.

I am intensely curious to know how they worked out that covering her eyes would calm her down....and love the dentistry....

I agree. Its great to see the practical and theoretical arms of fish management get together for a greater cause.

Oh she is beautiful.

They have the best job in the world. I love sharks and would have loved to work with them but my brain doesn't compute science.

White sharks are awesome! Not that much is known about their habits so that is great to see.
Csiro have done tagging and tracking on white sharks in Australia.  It is fascinating to see their range and how fast they can travel.  They often return to the same feeding grounds at the same time each year, states away!
Very cool job.
Edited coz I can't spell.

Most people think I'm weird but when you look at a GW, really look at their eyes, there is such individual character in them. They are just magnificent.

Well, I certainly didn't think of it! I did wonder what they were going to do with her though.

She's certainly um, large.

I listened to that guy in the video (very passionate man he is and clearly loves his job) and I immediately re-jigged the scene in my mind to be something like this (and I quote his words pretty much)

Alien spacecraft grabs homosapien (cue typical music)

Alien says " ... pull her back to the ship, place towel over her eyes to calm her, attach latest technology to her to solve the puzzle of her life"

Homosapien tags Mary-Lee in name of science.

Alien tags Homosapien in name of science.

There is some sort of symmetry in the that I think.  original.gif

Ok - I'm weird but that's where my brain led me.  laugh.gif laugh.gif
