Superannuation & Pensioner & A Job

My mum who is an aged pensioner has got a job to help out up the upcoming state election. She got all the forms she needed to complete for the agency including a superannuation form. Does she have to have super taken out? it's only a day of work, seems a waste to send money to a super fund just to have to withdraw it again. Is there an exemption form for this ?

If she is over 70 they don't have to pay her superannuation, but i think that is the only exemption.

She must also earn over a certain amount each month and if its just a day a week - no she won't (unless they are paying her a fortune!!!)!
She needs to earn more than $450 in that month.

When my DH did the last few elections he didn't get paid enough for the day to get any super! It can be a really, really long day.
I thought the over-70 exemption was being removed, but not sure from what date.

She might as well get it if she is entitled to it. It's not something they 'take out' of money earned, it is paid on top of money earned so I doubt she could just receive it as pay instead.

Just looked it up - if the election is prior to 30 June 2013, then no, if it is after, then yes:
