I heard some shocking news today.  An ex-coworker of mine took her life last week.  I always got the impression she was an organized, together type of person.  She was married with two daughters.  One mid 20s and one 13.  I'm still in shock.  You think you know someone and then... wow.

Her funeral is today and as it is in NZ I can't go.  So I'm thinking of sending her family a card.  I'm just not sure what to write in it.

Just write how deeply sorry you are and share an anecdote about something nice that she did for you/you did together.

I loved reading stories about my Mum that I didn't already know.
I also really loved hearing from people "Your mother was so very proud of you..she would often tell us about xyz." her children will need to be reminded of  that and having it written down on a card makes it permanent..

As for the 'why?' - you will probably never know... but people always have a reason.

Thanks countrymel.  That sounds like the perfect thing to write.  I will do that.  She was very supportive of my desire to continue breastfeeding my 6 month old when I went back to work.  Once my husband had the day off so had our son at home.  At lunch time he brought our son into work so I could feed him.  My co-worker rushed though her lunch time errands so she could come and sit with me and watch me feed him.  She said she hadn't seen a baby being breastfed in ages and thought it was really beautiful.
