What is your favorite vegetarian or vegan cookbook? I'm trying to cut out some of the meat that my family eats and am after ideas.

Websites are good if you know any but, I thought a cookbook as I kind of collect them & I have a voucher for a bookstore to use.

I have found the ones published by Iskcon (Hare Krishna society) to be really good. However the one they give away for free I didn't find good. I'm not sure what they have out now, but this was some years ago, but there was one really good one by I think his name was Kumar Dasi. And they had other good ones as well.

Also Madhur Jaffrey published a good one a while back. Not sure if it is still available.

Yes to Plenty, it is gorgeous.  Ottolenghi writes for the Guardian so you can check his stuff out there.

Charmaine Solomon's Vegetarian book is excellent and I second the Madhur Jaffrey books.

Moosewood cookbooks are good as well.

Moosewood - yum!

My parents were given this back in the 90's, fantastic food. I should order one myself.

Thanks for the recommendations, much appreciated. I've not bought one yet though as my voucher can't be used online it seems & I don't live that close to the store o, haven't made the trip to get it.

I'd completely forgotten about Madhur Jaffrey, I think my Mum has some of her books. I might need to raid her bookshelves. mum doesn't 'cook' as such so she won't care. Mum is very much a take from freezer, heat & serve cook. How I ever became interested in cooking I'll never know.

Fast Fresh and Fabulous by Rose Elliott (actually anything by Rose Elliott, I am yet to make a bad recipe from her cookbooks)

I'm liking Sally Butcher's Veggiestan at the moment.

(Despite thinking that Isa Chandra Moskowitz seemed really cool and interesting, I found her food pretty inedible and I found Moosewood pretty average). Sorry to put down others' recommendations, but I thought I'd just give my perspective on these.

Stephanie Alexander's Kitchen Garden Companion isn't all vegetarian, but most of the recipes are and I find it excellent.

ETA: I'm looking at buying Plenty at the moment too, because the vast majority of the reviews on Amazon are completely glowing.
