DH and I are pretty much set on Evangeline (nn Evie) Winter if this baby is a girl. So I did a quick google search as you do to see what come up and the first site is apparently NYC's largest fetish producer  huh.gif

Would this be a deal breaker on a name for you? Never heard of this company personally but I guess it's not really my scene so I don't really know how popular it is and what it's longevity will be.

Search hard enough and you'll find something to put you off almost any name.
I wouldn't worry about it - it's pretty obscure.

PS really like the names.

No it wouldn't put me off. Evangeline (Evie) was on my list too - DH vetoed it. We went with Genevieve (still with the nn Evie).

Gorgeous name!

shrug.gif Never heard of it.

If you like the name then go for it.

Not unless most people I knew were into the industry and knew the name..

Most people wouldnt know the name therefore get the connection and it is a beautiful name so Id use it.

If you were based in the states it may make me consider it carefully but since you are in Australia I think it wouldn't be an issue unless they had a huge online presence.

Nah..

Too obscure - and Evangeline is too lovely to ignore!

There is a 'glamour' model with my exact name!  I like to link her website to my facebook page - gives my friends a bit of a giggle.

Glad to hear no one else has heard of it original.gif

This was my concern, while I personally hadn't heard of them I was worried others might have and be the first association they made when they heard the name.

Nope. Never heard of it ( and that goes with searching for steel boned corsets for my wedding- you come across interesting sites with that web search. Not something to do on you work PC at lunchtime)

The only association I thought of was Evangeline Lilly.

Beautiful name. My SIL is Dutch, her name is Eveline (pronounced Ay-va-leena), and my BIL calls her Evie. If you're looking for other suggestions original.gif

Don't let it put you off, its beautiful. And really when baby is born who is actually going to google her name to see what else is out there with same name. I think most will be too busy telling you what a lovely name it is.

Do agree with a pp that if you were in US i might reconsider but not in Australia and some company on other side of world.

#13 Kalota

Posted 02 January 2013 - 04:34 PM

I wouldn't worry about it, like a PP said it's a pretty obscure connection and that website being the top of the google search is likely not going to be a lifelong thing, that's if anyone makes the connection in the first place at all!

I think they are absolutely beautiful names original.gif

Wouldn't put me off original.gif

I think of Evangaline Lily the actress...

It probably wouldn't put me off.

There are some names I wouldn't use due to them also being a brand name.  Sarah Lee.  Ann Summers.  Betty Crocker.  But that one is not on my radar, and is unlikely to be on the radar of anyone who is actually going to admit it!

#17 seaside_feral

Posted 02 January 2013 - 05:45 PM

I've never heard of it, and if you just search Evangeline without Winter it doesn't come up on the first page... The model's name is Evangeline Von Winter too, not Evangeline Winter.

So no I wouldn't worry about it at all & I think it's a beautiful name!!

#18 Girlo

Posted 02 January 2013 - 05:49 PM

Would you consider Evelyn Winter instead? Still same nn...

#19 leisamd

Posted 02 January 2013 - 06:22 PM

No it wouldn't put me off.

However, when I searched DS2's name with both our considered spellings (first name + last name), lets just say that I was definitely put off one spelling  ohmy.gif

ETA - Evangeline Winter is a truly lovely name!

I don't think it's going to be a well-known association. I've never heard of it, and nor have most in this thread so far. You hadn't until you googled. If it's put you off, it's done now, but I don't see the big deal.

#21 kerilyntaryn

Posted 02 January 2013 - 07:55 PM

I would worry about that at all

#22 FeralProudSwahili

Posted 02 January 2013 - 07:57 PM

It wouldn't influence my decision at all.

#23 wish*upon*a*star

Posted 02 January 2013 - 07:57 PM

It would be a non-issue for me, gorgeous name BTW

#24 ~Peaches~

Posted 02 January 2013 - 08:20 PM

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest. Never heard of it before, and I wouldn't have thought to google, so I would just think you'd named your daughter a beautiful name original.gif
