I'm nearly 10 weeks, and right from the start I had on-again, off-again pain on my right side.
I was also worried, but didn't have any other symptoms and it didn't get worse.
I've now seen bub on US, so I know for sure its not an ectopic, just muscular.

If your pain gets worse, and becomes more constant, go to the doctor/hospital.
Good luck! hopefully it turns out it's just muscular like mine is!

I agree with PP. Pain like this is a frequent symptom in early pregnancy as the uterus reacts and stretches but any severe pain that is not relieved by a change of position and resting should be followed up.
Any blood loss accompanied by pain is also a reason to see your caregiver.
Good luck and congratulations.

It could be round ligament pain.  If you google it, it says it usually occurs 2nd trimester but I've had it 1st trimester for last 2 pregnancies and have had it right thru the pregnancy. It's like a short stabbing pain and can occur when u make certain movements or sneeze suddenly, cough etc.  it's the ligaments attached to the uterus pulling and I find it quite painful and have to adjust position when sleeping to ease it.  It comes and goes. Always best to check with Dr however.
Congrats on your pregnancy, it's such an exciting time when u see those 2 lines on the test!!

I had a lot of pains in the first trimester including round ligament pain. You think that being pregnant means you get to be 'pain free' for 9 months until the baby s born but that's definitely not the case. Your uterus is becoming more pliable and is stretching to accommodate the baby, and your ligaments have to stretch along side it to let it grow. I had left sort of ovarian pain LOTS of times up until probably the 17th week but everything was ok.
Just keep an eye out on any unusual pain that sustains and any bleeding. These both can be normal too ( I had a small bleed at 14 weeks which resolved quickly - no definite cause found) but its best to get everything checked by your doctor.
Good luck and congratulations!!

I wouldn't even think of an ectopic from that. I guess if you had constant pain then maybe. Relax and enjoy rolleyes.gif

In my 2 pregnancies my first sign is sudden stabbing pain in the groin/lower pelvic area (left or right), like a muscle stretch, both times that is what made me take a pregnancy test and I found out very early that I was pregnant.
It would happen when I was getting out of bed mostly.
All the best.
