I am going to throw a housewarming party in a few weeks, and am after ideas. I am thinking it will be BYO drinks, but apart from that I am not sure.

Ideas please.

BYO BBQ, that way you don't have to worry about RSVPs or catering etc.  Especially since you are new to the area, an opportunity to meet some new people without having to worry about dietary issues etc.

C'mon PBQ- we need more details to give you appropriate ideas: what time of the day is the housewarming? Number of people? Kids and adults? Inside or outside? Budget???

I just had a strawberry + melon platter.  Made some chocolate/caramel slice.  Bought a 3 cheese pack from woollies and some jatz.

Then oven cooked spring rolls, sausage rolls and feta-spinach puffs.

BYO drinks.  Had it at 2pm, so everyone had had lunch, so we just all nibbled and talked all afternoon.  Very pleasant.  Probably a bit quiet for some people's tastes, but suited us perfectly.

Still working on a date etc, probably a Saturday or Sunday, there will be kids and adults. , both inside and outside.

My suggestion for a January party with kids is - slip 'n' slide! You can pick one up for $20 or so from target, kmart etc. It will amuse kids of all ages.

For food, I would do a simple sausage sizzle - bread/ snags/ couple of huge, simple salads. BYO drinks & chairs.

Pop on the music, pop up a marquee if you have one or can borrow one, and let the good times flow original.gif
