So PIL are going to SIL for lunch, were coming over here after lunch (late arvo) but now have decided to pop in to our place around 10am for an hour and a half on the way to SIL.

So morning tea- what should I make?

I have some slices and rumballs and apricot balls in the freezer, but want to keep those for the afternoon and Boxing Day when my family is over.

Thankfully I have the time to make stuff, but what?

Scones and jam and cream?
Something savory?

Ideas please help!!!'

Scones are easy, so go with that, then maybe just buy or make some spinach and ricotta pastries? I like the idea of one sweet and one savoury etc. With such short notice, don't get too stressed (you can even buy stuff instead wink.gif ).

Scones sound good, maybe a fruit platter? TBH they probably won't want a lot if they've just had breakfast and are on their way to have Christmas lunch.

What about some smoked salmon wraps cut up.  I am doing them for Christmas Eve nibbles but they would be perfect for a morning brunch for something light and savory.  You buy some wraps, cream cheese, maybe lemon and sour cream, smoken salmon and cucumber (you can add red onion and lettuce if you want).

Mix up cream cheese, lemon and sour cream (although cream cheese is fine but I prefer the tang of this mixture).  Spread on the wrap, lay out salmon, thin cucumber slices, thin red onion, small amount of lettuce if you want to bulk up, roll up the wrap and then slice into 3 or 4 pieces per wrap.  You only need to make a few and have it as a nibble.  Yummo.  Light, fresh and christmassy.  huh.gif

Iced drinks and biscuits is my go to for morning entertaining at this time of year, I keep a selection of Christmas biscuits in the cupboard for drop ins and iced tea, coffee and iced chai are all permanently in the fridge.

If they're on their way to a Christmas Lunch they're probably only going to want something light, just to tide them over. I don't think it would be appreciated if you upstage the host of Christmas lunch.
