When I was a child growing up in England, Wizard of Oz would play each year on Christmas Day (no VcRs then!)

I'm not sure my 3 year old will 'get' Wizard of Oz just yet so looking for inspiration!

Oh..........

I don't think your 3 year old would enjoy our Christmas favourite 'Bad Santa' with Billy Bob Thornton either!

Although apparently this year because we will be with DP's family we will be watching that other Christmas classic - Die Hard!

For the adults it is love actually on Christmas Eve.

It is probably because the airports at beginning and end resonate with us..my brothers wife lived in a different country when they met, I lived interstate to my DH. My dad would travel is most of the year...... So airports feature in our lives.

We watch it when we are all together (  like last year in Switzerland) or when we are all apart like this year.

Well, I watch Lord of the Rings which, obviously, isn't suited to your purposes. Nor is it  Xmas movie.
I also watch A Muppets Christmas Carol  which may be more your little one's style?
ETA Another Love actually annual viewer here too. DH hates it though so I'm planning on watching it today!

We don't generally - but this year we are going to a screening of a muppet christmas carol at the rooftop cinema.  I'm very excited.

Glad to know we are not the only family enjoying low brow humour for the holidays!

It USED to be Muppet Xmas Carol, but they've stopped screening it on the TV, and DH hasn't remembered in time to buy me a copy, for the 7th year in a row Tounge1.gif

#14 Maple Leaf

The Grinch. The old fashioned cartoon version. Just love it. original.gif

#15 Rangeman

Posted 21 December 2012 - 11:06 AM

The Santa Clause - I will never get sick of it.

National Lampoons, absolute comedy classic!

We often watch The Nightmare Before Christmas, and this year we're going to start the tradition of A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas ph34r.gif

When we were little we used to watch A Christmas Carol. I think it was generally the Muppets version, but I vaguely remember a disney version as well. I think when DS is old enough we'll go with A Muppet Christmas Carol

Same. Now when I'm waiting for someone at an airport I always watch the farewells and reunions, and usually find at least one to get teary about. So embarrassing.

I do like Diehard though... and for the kids, Christmas on 34th Street.

Polar Express. We watch it every Christmas eve with the kids, then the kids go to bed while DH and I drink wine and watch the Christmas Carols.

Love actually!

#21 little lion

Home Alone is pretty good too.

#22 Girlo

Posted 21 December 2012 - 01:35 PM

Rudolph the red nose reindeer - the "animation" one from the 60s.

An absolute classic and good for young kids!

Another annual Love Actually watcher here.

ETA. I also re-watch as many Christmas-themed cooking shows as I can in the week or so before Christmas. Makes me feel so festive! I think I'll put on a Nigella Christmas special now while I wrap presents..

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation of course biggrin.gif

I hate all the other National Lampoon movies, but I can never get enough of Christmas Vacation.

Love Actually makes me cringe. I am partial to a bit of Santa Clause and Santa Clause 2.

I love A Mom for Christmas, and my DH loves Family Man. We have been watching a Christmas movie each night for the past 2 weeks original.gif love it!
