Asking for my future DIL, but, she bought a new dress and just washed it, its a mostly white dress with a little black band around the waist, and a black skirt, the black has run into the white. She cold washed it.

Can it be saved? Can she take it back?

If she washed it as per the care instructions, then she should definitely be able to take it back. Was it dry clean only perhaps?

She said it doesn't have instructions. I'm not near them to see it myself.

You can buy some colour removing power (I forget what it's called but it's in the laundry section at the supermarket) that's meant to get out colours that have run. Not sure it would work with black but worth a try.

I would give it another wash and see how it goes.

DD had a dress that was brown with white polka dots, when I first washed it a bit of the brown ran into the white spots, however after the next wash it was fine.
