thanks for taking the time to reply..
hummmm, I'm not sure we're talking about he same thing?? Maybe I called it the wrong thing...this is what I'm asking about
swimmingalong - we have had two different quotes from granite transformations - one about a year ago and one 4 years ago. They were one of the most expensive companies we got quotes from (yes, a very thin veneer was going to be more expensive than a solid benchtop, which is what we ended up getting) and longest time frames. Two close family members have used them in that time and both say they would not use them again - messy, shoddy, unhelpful and just generally not a company they would return to. One of them (within the last 6 months) is still waiting for a callback regarding stained benchtop - GT had already had to return to fix something else and saw the stain at the time but didn't do anything about except to say they would send someone else out to have a look - she is still waiting.
Also, 4 years ago when we received quotes, granite transformation in particular, but also a couple of other companies, assured us that CaesarStone and Quantum Quartz were both heat resistant and safe for dishes straight out of oven - which I loved the idea of. Second time around NOBODY at all (I am in NSW, don't know if that makes a difference) offered a warranty which covered cracks etc as a result of heat damage. They all said that new research, which was obviously done during the time we got our first and second lot of quotes, had shown that the manmade composite/reconstituted stone was not actually heatproof and there had been an increasing number of instances with cracks due to a hot dish being put on cold stone.
Having said all that, I love my Quantum Quartz, my SIL has it and loves hers too, and if you look after it there is no reason why it shouldn't last a lifetime. I do believe that the lighter the colour the more susceptible it is to staining.
