Hi Ladies,

Just touching base to let you know Elyse Grace was born last wednesday morning 5.45am, 3.425kg and 49cm long.

I had a relatively straight forward labour, though still painful lol, my obstetrician put me in hospital for the gel to soften cervix, one application put me into labour straight away (happens to about 10% of women). I opted for the epidural after 6hours and was a good choice for me.

I got home from hospital today. She is gorgeous, and a little cheeky already, and doesnt like night times. Im hoping tonight is better!

I hope everyone else is well and wish you all speedy and safe arrivals.

xx

Good Afternoon everyone

Just popping in real quickly to announce the birth of our son, Jackson, born last Wednesday 05.12.12, at 37+4, due to my blood pressure issues.
We had a shaky first few days, he didnt suck properly, but 'woke up' yesterday, and is now going great guns, and we are at home biggrin.gif

I will go back and read the old thread soon, hopefully everyone is going well original.gif

Congrats to the new arrivals! Looking forward to ours, but Wednesday our due date would be nice, with onemore day toclean up! Pleased to say we have an obstetrician who when asking us how far over we were comfortable going said we were not allowed to factor in Xmas: it's clearly not about his convenience!

Congratulations Birdie444 & Bel on your new arrivals. xx

MahnaMahna I haven't had a balloon catheter before, first time was gels, ARM and the drip, second time just ARM and the drip so this time I am feeling a bit better about the induction proccess. I also signed up for a study they are doing so I might be able to go home after the balloon is put in then just come back the next day to get the party started. happy.gif

Pssst Holly is a beautiful name, I don't know how i ended up writing that you had a boy sorry about that.

Congratulations Birdieb444, Pssst and Bel.  Hope all is going well so far and the bubs are doing well.

The babies are rolling in now!!!:)

Hope everyone is hanging in there who are still to deliver.....not long to go now!

AFM, I had an OB app yesterday (not my normal OB, but one that may deliver if mine can't make it to the hospital in time), and she seemed to think that I may go in the next week??  Sort of hate that she told me that cause I really want it to go early and think that if it doesn't happen earlier now it just makes me more impatient!

Congratulations again to all the new mum's. Not much longer for the rest of us now.

AFM - Just a question did your fundal height measurement drop dramatically at all? I went to the doc last week and i measured 37cm which was correct to my week but then i went yesterday and its now 31? Did this happen to you at all? Im hoping that means he's dropped down and is ready to come out. The doctor just said its okay it means he's getting into position. Didn't think the measurement would drop that much is all.

kjdean - mine didn't drop but fell behind a cm or so at around 33 weeks.  Bub had fully engaged at that point.  I'm still growing a centimetre or so now.  Was 35cm at 37 week appt.  Did it say on your antenatal card how low down bub's head is?  5/5 is where mine is, fully engaged.  The other thing is that height after 36 weeks isn't meant to be too accurate.

HTH!

AFM

Is anyone else dealing with the final weeks as badly as I am?

Nearly at 38 weeks and am over the fact that I don't feel human until after lunch and that I have no get up and go.  I'm also a bit cranky and achy and tired despite what I do to try and make myself feel better....

Sorry for the rant.

I was under the impression that 5/5 meant fully engaged, but it's actually not engaged at all. On my antenatal card I am 4/5, so only one fifth engaged.

Like you, I'm not dealing with the final weeks at all. I have a nasty cold and chest infection which I have been trying to fight off for the last week, I am very cranky and tired, and I am really wanting this baby out!

Congratulations to all the new arrivals, and good luck to the rest of us!

Birdie_ Congrats! Wow on the gel working for you! So glad that you have your little one now.

Being over it! Doesn't help when we have people on here that are holding their bundles and that it is heating up!
I have good and bad days, Canberra is still so cold sometimes that I get relief that way.

AFM- Had OB today and S&S done. Also now booked in for induction next Wednesday if nothing else happens. DH is home Saturday, so looks like we made it through the 5 months of him away with no baby!

Take Care

Yep that is correct. What is referring to is how many 5ths of the babies head are still above the pelvis. So 5/5 means that the head is down but not yet engaging. 3/5 means that 2/5 has engaged and 3/5 are still above the pelvis.

Congratulations to our newest arrivals original.gif Gosh, they are really coming in now.

Good luck to those waiting and especially to those that are overdue.

Looking forward to seeing if we end up with any christmas babies.

Congratulations to all the mums who have welcomed their little bundles so far! I was just reading the list, and what a lovely group of baby names we have. original.gif

We are 37+4 here, and feeling somewhat ok and patient still.Have been having period pains regularly for the past week, and feeling 'different,' but our little Possum is determined to make us wait. original.gif
Am struggling with intense pressure in the pelvis and pain at night, so would love for that to be relieved by the baby coming!

Porkchops, I feel the same as you. not coping well now. Very achey and I've been getting really sore hips, like sharp pains through them and I can't move when it happens.  Oh, and very grumpy also.

That's strange because I went from 0/5 to 5/5 and was told by both the MW and the Obs that I was fully engaged.  Seems to be a bit of a discrepancy  between in the way people write it.  Whether people mean 4/5 of presenting part is palpable (so 1/5 engaged) or if 4/5 is engaged.... (and 1/5 palpable).

Too much to think about this late in the day.

Hi all! I also had a S & S today and have my fingers crossed that bubs might be encouraged to come sooner rather than later! It's fully engaged now- finished work the week before last and now I'm getting bored!

Hope all the new arrivals come quickly and easily! Best of luck to everyone!!

#23 Jlhb

Hi everyone just popping in to say our little one is scheduled to arrive 3 weeks early, this Friday! Unfortunately she is IUGR due to my blood pressure and placenta not functioning. Fundal is 33cm when I'm almost 38 wks, AC hasn't grown for 3+ weeks and has gone from 55th percentile to 4th percentile. Safer out than in. She's expected to weigh 2.7kg and be very hungry!! So nervous as it's sooner than expected!

Congrats to the new bubs Birdieb444, Pssst and Bel.

Thanks Frogcal for the info. I'm having steroid shots now and have been told she may need to be combo fed to get her growth up. Was hopin for BF only but want her to be healthy.

#24 frogcal

Posted 12 December 2012 - 08:00 AM

Good luck Jhlb, hope everything goes well for you. FWIW my DS was 2.38kg at delivery (36w6d), it took him about 3 weeks to really wake up and start feeding properly etc but since then hasn't looked back. Lucky for me I had heaps of milk and he only had one formula feed of about 10mls, the expressing is hard work in the early days but if you are determined to bf it will be worth it in the long run.

Porkchop - it seems that different Dr's write it different ways which is confusing, but engaged is engaged and hopefully that means your bubs will be appearing soon.

Mels - good luck with the s&s doing its job!

Hi all,
Just popping in to let you know we had our little boy Callan last Thursday 6th at 10:57am, weighing 7pd 14oz. We are doing well and have been home from hospital since Monday. Had an elective c-section due to large baby the first time and I didnt go in to labour at all, so this meant he is 11 days early but Im glad it's all over and hope to be feeling even better by the time xmas day comes around.
Congratulations to all the other new bubs!! Hope you are all doing well. Hopefully those still waiting wont have to wait too much longer.
