Can anyone tell me about playmobil, what is it? It seems to pop up in a few christmas topics and on the toys r us.com thread. I have seen it in the shops but never quite looked at it.
Why is it so popular, it seems really expensive too...
Trying to look for something different for a present for my 4 year old.

Playmobil has been around for years. I used to have it when I was a kid and I'm over 40 now!
I think it is so popular because it is a great toy for using your imagination and it is excellent quality. It is very pricey here but much better priced from OS

We love playmobil. We have heaps. It is a lot of small pieces though! I love it because I prefer to have large sets of things that all work together, rather than 20 separate toys. There are lots of different themes of playmobil, we have Egyptian, Stone Age, school, fire station, police station, farm, underwater etc. The playmobil characters are designed to be the right size for a child's hand.

My children have been collecting it for a few years. The quality is excellent and they spend many hours playing with it. I highly recommend playmobil.
