Can anyone please tell me if there any major differences in these courses?
Are job outcomes the same? Is the pay rate the same? As employable as someone with a bachelor?
Anything else you can tell me?
Thanks original.gif

Yes there is a difference,

Australia currently has two levels of nurses:

• Registered Nurses (known as Division 1 nurses in Victoria) uni
• Enrolled Nurses (known as Division 2 nurses in Victoria) tafe

Pay rates are different are for both. A lot of places will happly take a div 2 as the course now covers a lot more then it once did.

and length of time.  Diploma is 18 months i think? Uni is 3 years.  They also dont overlap very much unfortunatly.  I couldnt take the 1 year of uni i did and RPL for a diploma, and i asked about completing the diploma and then possibly down the track RPL for my degree and was told no not really.

once upon a time EN's weren't able to give medications but they can now become medication endorsed, although I think there still may be some drugs they can't give? I may be totally wrong there, I'm studying to be a RN so not 100% on what's involved with being a EN
