My poor little girl has had 7 ear infections in as many weeks, which has developed in to Glue Ear and and is in constant pain. I am sick of giving her antibiotics which aren't working, and after advice from the pediatrician we have stopped these and are just waiting as she is too little for grommets.

Has anyone had any success with visiting a naturopath or homeopath for Glue Ear? I hate giving her paracetemol all the time for the pain, and want to do something for the poor child!

Thank you!

My kids thankfully haven't experienced glue ear, however we have had wonderful successes with a homeopath for various childhood complaints, and I can't see why homeopathy wouldn't work for glue ear as well.

I am a naturopathy student, and whilst I live (and swear by) naturopathy, I find homeopathy a bit better for young children, as a lot of herbs unfortunately taste pretty awful, so compliance can be an issue. Nevertheless, a naturopath (and indeed a good homeopath) will probably recommend some dietary changes to work on her mucous congestion, such as avoiding dairy.

Homeopaths do amazing things for glue ear, you can read all about it here (not sure if you are close to one of these clinics): Children's Ear Clinic

If you are not close to one of those clinics but are looking for a homeopath, just make sure they are fully qualified as some naturopaths practice homeopathy but do not do it in a classical sense, so it's not the same (eg. naturopaths might only do a few subjects in homeopathy in their degree whereas homeopaths do their whole course in it).

Good luck with it original.gif

I'd also take them to a paediatric chiropractor. They have AMAZING results with ear infections - especially recurrent problems. (It has to do with the neck being "out" and affecting the ear canal).

Homeopathy as the others mentioned is also a great option.

Good luck!

Not sure if you can use them with glue ear but ask a practitioner about ear candeling.

I know that the homoeopaths who do 'the ear clinic' will do skype and telephone consults so look for them. Their website is awesome. i have been to seminars on their practise and its great. I have had two kids with glue ear (twins) one was sorted smartly with homoeopathy and the other had grommets. I believe that the other could have been sorted had we not been on a time schedule. But the one who had grommets had one set only. Our family day carer at the time had an 11 yo son who had just had another set of grommets inserted, and they didnt last long because the membrane was 'over it'. PM me if you cant find the website for the ear clinic. Ali

Thank you so much ladies!

I got in to a homeopath yesterday afternoon, and he has given her 'Calc Carb' (may mean more to some of you than me...) which she is to have twice a day. I need to call him on Wed next week with an update and a follow up visit the following Wednesday. He said he has had quite a bit of success with fixing ear problems.

If we don't have success, I will try the Ear Clinic everyone raves about! We are in Brisbane, but great to know they are happy to do consults via Skype etc.

Thanks again ladies, I feel really good about this.
