On Sunday we decided it was time to start decorating the front of our house. No one in our neighbourhood has their xmas lights on yet but we thought its probably around this time it all starts happening plus the kids were really excited. So we all waited until it got dark so we could turn them on and see what we had done so far.

Anyway yesterday I got home from the shops and noticed the couple across the road were putting up their lights which I thought was cool because the kids love to go look at everyones lights. But later on when we put our lights on and then they put their lights on I noticed everything was exactly the same!!! (our houses are very very similar to look at without lights too)

We dont have major lights happening on the front of our house or anything but I just thought it was funny that things like the rope lights going up the drive way and wrapped around the poles like candy canes were the same, also going along the edging of our garden-which is the same! Plus we put silouettes in the windows at the front of the house- not only did they do that too... they are the exact same silouettes! Plus other things like icicle lights and fairy lights along the roof of the house (but those things are pretty common to do anyway)

Anyway all these things could just be a co-incidence, I just thought it was so funny when I saw it looking the same a day later. Has this happened to anyone else?

If anyone has seen the movie "deck the halls" you will understand when I say I was channeling Danny DeVito and thinking of all these things I could do to make ours look better! laughing2.gif

Your lights sounds very very similar to what we do.

If you look most peoples lights look the same unless they buy different stuff.but if your stuff is from big W Kmart etc you will find that the rope light and very limited silohuettes are always teh same looking.

LOL - just be mindful of your poor nbeighbours if you decide to copy Danny De Vito. Why not aim for something more along the lines of Chevy Chase? At least he didn't have the blaring music!!

you are right, thats very true.

I guess its just because its the 1st time we have seen their lights and our houses are very similar to begin with thats probably why it looks like a mirror image of our house atm.

Isn't that stuff standard Christmas lighting? I would be a little put off by the SAME silhouettes in the window, but everything else seems to be the generic standard. shrug.gif

Imitation IS the most sincere form of flattery indeed.

Is it just me who thinks early November is a tad early for Christmas decorations?
