1. Briefly describe your business.

Cheeky Little Soles, are a gorgeous range of padded non slip soft soled leather shoes for infants and toddlers (0-2 years).  Our shoes are super stylish, comfortable, affordable and are proven that they really do stay on!

Features of Cheeky Little Soles:

• Cotton lined super soft leather which is safe for 'toe suckers'

• No uncomfortable open seams to rub on tiny feet

• Black padded soles for extra comfort and protection

• Skid resistant non slip soles

• Easily slip on and stay on

2. Why did you start your business?

Cheeky Little Soles began early in 2005, when I searched for a way to keep my 6 month old daughters socks on and to stop her from slipping on our floorboards in her attempts to stand.  I looked high and low for something affordable and suitable, without much success I decided to design my own range.  I spread the word about my plans and the orders started to roll in.  The response to the product was overwhelming.  Mums and bubs throughout Australia and New Zealand just adore Cheeky Little Soles.

3. Has starting your own business lived up to expectations?

The response to Cheeky Little Soles has been extremely exciting.  I initially set my expectations pretty high, but I never imagined that the business would grow at such an incredible pace.  When starting the business I don't think I really understood how much time and effort would need to be dedicated to it, but when you love what you do it doesn't matter.

4. What have you enjoyed the most about running your own business?

I love the fact that I am able to share such a beautiful product with other mums and bubs.  I get calls daily from parents who have purchased or been given a pair of Cheeky Little Soles.  They tell me just how practical they are, how gorgeous they look, and how are super comfortable for their little ones feet.

5. What is the biggest challenge for you in running your own business?

I find the biggest challenge I face is switching off from business related matters every night.  I am extremely passionate about my business and I want to make sure I am guiding it in the best possible direction.  Switching off is a challenge I am still working on!

6. How do you manage the juggle of running your own business with family?

I have been described as the organizational queen and that certainly helps when juggling all the required tasks at hand.  My 'to do list' is always pages long but it certainly helps to keep one when multi-taking.  I find I forget the little things like milk and bread, need to make sure they are on my 'to do list' as well.

7. Do you have a favourite networking opportunity or event?

I love attending expos and trade events, I really enjoy meeting other driven and passionate people in business.  I also enjoy participating in business forums where any ideas or questions can be bounced around.

8. Do you have any advice for anyone out there who may be thinking about starting their own business?

Make sure you do your research before jumping in with both feet.  Believe in yourself and rise to any challenges that may come your way.  Running your own business is not an easy venture, to succeed you really need, passion, dedication and the best organisational skills on the earth!
