A baby girl weighing a whopping 6.02kg was born at Queensland's Rockhampton Hospital earlier this week and she's totally gorgeous.

The beautiful baby girl Maisie Lily Macdonald was born via c-section one week before her due date, surprising her ecstatic parents Mason Macdonald and Makaela Kirkby.

Maisie's 17-month-old sister, Aubree Rose, was also a big baby, weighing in at just over 5kg when she was born.

Mr Macdonald shared the happy news on his Facebook page with a photo of his daughter being lifted up over the operating table by her doctors.

"I'd like to introduce Maisie Lily Macdonald to everyone, weighing in at 13 pound 4 ounces (6.020 kilograms) claiming the record of biggest baby born at Rockhampton Hospital," he wrote.

"Welcome to the world and the family ya massive newborn."

His post's been liked hundreds of times and received more than 110 comments, mostly from well wishes.

Some people took the opportunity to poke fun at their baby, but were quickly shut down.

Even the mum of Oliver "Ollie" Stock, Queensland's biggest ever newborn baby (born in 2103 weighing in at 6.7kg) sent her support via Facebook.

"Congrats you guys. I saw the fb post my friends copied me in. I'm the one that had Oliver Stock (not Stokes) back in 2013. Don't listen to anyone that gives you crap, she is beautiful and I bet you guys are proud," Patricia Stock said.

"I know I copped a bit when I had Oliver and I don't want anyone else to feel terrible at any stage. It's a wonderful joyous occasion and people just have to ruin it sometimes.

"It's cruel what people say especially when they have no idea what the family has been through. Congrats once again though she is a gorgeous little bubba."
