The Sesame Street Muppets have been hard at work- releasing four new animated hand-washing and hygiene guides for youngsters everywhere to follow, amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

Elmo has even taken his signature song about brushing teeth, 'Brushy Brush' and turned it into a new PSA video titled "washy wash". The video shows a cartoon Elmo washing his hands to a 20-second song, which is the same amount of time health experts advise to wash your hands for.

The video was uploaded to the Sesame Street website as part of their Sesame Workshop's Caring for Each Other initiative. The other videos include Time to Wash Your Hands, Caring for Myself, Caring for Others and Sneezing and Coughing Safely.

The intiative was launched last week and aims to release content that includes "videos on healthy habits, resources providing comfort, and learn-at-home activities".

As well as videos for kids to learn the importance of handwashing, they're also printable versions of the songs and guides on how to talk to kids about the current health crisis.

"As families around the world adjust to their new realities, parents and caregivers are looking for help in creating new routines, staying healthy and fostering learning at home while little ones are out of school," Dr. Rosemarie Truglio, senior vice president of curriculum and content at Sesame Workshop, said in a statement.

The website will upload new videos every week, as well as recourses for parents and caregivers.
