There comes a point in the lives of most weary parents when they make a desperate attempt to catch up on sleep by bringing their baby in to bed with them for a couple of hours in the morning.

No matter if the kid is actually sleepy, but you're so exhausted you think that maybe if you just lie there the sleep will be infectious and you'll both get some shut-eye. Right? WRONG.

As this hilarious video shows, sometimes co-sleeping equals no-sleeping.

US mother Esther Anderson decided to record what happened while she attempted to take a nap with her adorable daughter. As she wrote on the caption for her popular You Tube video, "Every morning my baby sleeps in my bed with me for a couple hours after she wakes up to eat. And every morning I ask myself why I didn't just put her back in her crib.

"So this morning I grabbed my cellphone and recorded what my baby alarm clock looks like. I think I'm not alone in this."

In the video you can see Ms Anderson's cheeky daughter attempting to wake her mummy by sticking her fingers into Anderson's nose and eyes. When that doesn't work, she climbs across her face.

It has been viewed over 3 million times since it was published over a week ago, clearly striking a chord with sleep-deprived parents everywhere.

Ah, the joys of motherhood.

Note: SIDS and Kids recommend that babies have their own separate, safe sleeping space in a parent's room for the first 6-12 months.
