As a first-time mum and with so many brands to choose from, making the decision of which pram was suitable for me and my newborn was not an easy one. I decided on the 2012 Silver Cross Surf for its durability, style and value for money.

The Silver Cross Surf is packed with plenty of inclusions and is suitable from newborn to toddler (15kgs) without the real need to buy any additional extras.  It’s incredibly versatile – as your baby grows you simply remove the newborn wedge, recline, and reverse the seat from rear to front facing.

The slim and lightweight size may be its main appeal to me, but it has lots of great other features, too

The Babynest for newborns is terrific and is included with the new Surf 2012. My newborn is snug as a bug in the Babynest which provides a wedged padded surface so that he is laying flat. It’s made from eco-friendly natural Bamboo fabric, looks stylish and is very comfortable keeping baby secure and cosy. He easily falls asleep in the Silver Cross Surf.

I find the Silver Cross Surf very easy to manoeuvre. It’s remarkably light to push and turn and provides for a very smooth ride. Great for walks on all terrains.

It’s lightweight and easily collapses into two parts making it easy for me to lift the pram in/out of the car with the chassis weighing 7.5kg (including the wheels), and the body 3.8kg. For smaller cars, there is even an option to remove the back wheels at the push of a button.

I was pleased to learn that the new Surf 2012 includes a larger storage basket under the seat and folds flat with the pram saving space in the car boot - there is no longer the need to remove the basket when collapsing. For extra storage my nappy bag locks in nicely on the handle bars.

A full Essentials Pack is included in your choice of colour including a 3-position hood with viewing window, protective padded foot muff/apron, cushioned seat liner and sunshade.

There is a nice choice of colours in the range – I selected the neutral ‘Sand’ colour. Other colour options include: Black, Chilli (red), Navy, Pink, Aubergine, and Lime. But if you later change your mind, you can purchase the Essentials Pack in your new colour preference (RRP$249). A great option for when second baby arrives.

The Surf is weatherproof with a protective raincover that fits over the hood to keep my baby dry on rainy days as well as a sunshade (insect net), handy for summer walks along the beach or outdoor family picnics.

At RRP $999, I found my Silver Cross Surf really good value for money as it includes all the accessories you could need from birth. You don’t really need to buy any extras. However, if all the featured inclusions aren’t enough, then there is the option to buy additional accessories such as a carrycot attachment (RRP $339) or cup holders (RRP $29.95).

I would happily recommend the Silver Cross Surf as a reliable pram for your baby that will last for years.
