Smart Stages Toolbox reviewed by Alison Fraser, mum of 2

My 18-month-old daughter and I were very excited to be selected to trial the Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Toolbox.

It was so easy to remove from the packaging – I didn't even need scissors, and the fact that batteries were included was a huge plus. (No rummaging through drawers to find batteries while my toddler impatiently waited to play with her new toy!)

The Toolbox is sturdy and definitely able to "take a beating". Miss 18 months loves the bright colours and the "puppy" voice that talks to her. The light up shapes and so many different songs across the three stages kept her entertained for ages.

It's super easy for little ones to play with – the chunky hammer, nuts and bolts, and roller make it easy for little hands to grip, press and roll without help from Mummy. Each new song, sound or light resulted in Little Miss' face lighting up and lots of giggles.

The Smart Stages Toolbox certainly delivered what it promised. The three stages are great so that I could choose the level appropriate to my daughter's level of development and her interests.

The age range of 6-36 months is perfect for this toy – I can see interest in it for a very long time to come.

My older daughter (almost 4) also loved playing with it – there were a few squabbles over who got to play with it!

I personally love the different volume levels included and the teaching of several words in French – a great way to introduce a second language at an early age.

The only thing that I would change about the Smart Stages Toolbox is the opening catch on the lid is a bit hard for little ones to open themselves. I had to open it for Miss 18 months before she could start playing.

Other than that, I love it!

I would definitely recommend this toy to other mums and would suggest buying it more at the 6 month stage to maximise the use of the stages as baby develops.

I would rate the Smart Stages Toolbox 4.5 out of 5 stars.
