Chewy teething toy recalled over safety fears: choking or suffocation hazard

A popular teething toy has been recalled  on safety grounds over fears it could lead to severe injury or death in young children.

The Xinda Pty Ltd Necklace Cross Chewy Teether Toy Pencil made out of silicone, has been declared unsafe by the Product Safety Australia, over fears it may cause choking or suffocation.

According to Product Safety Australia, the product does not meet the requirements of the mandatory standard "Consumer Protection Notice No. 14 of 2003 - Consumer Product Safety Standard: Toys for children up to and including 36 months of age."

Anyone who has purchased the product has been urged to dipose of it and contact Xinda Pty Ltd for a full refund.

Customers will be requested to provide Xinda Pty Ltd with a photograph or video to show that the product has been completely destroyed to receive the full refund.

The toy was sold online via eBay, under the seller user name Oz.Xinda and 23922364 (Xinda Gift Shop / Oz Happy Deals) between September 8 last year and March 6 this year.
