Clipping a newborn's nails can often be met with dread for new parents.
But rather than approach the task with the usual fear of accidently injuring the tiny tot, one mum has embraced the grooming - with a unique twist.
Not content with filing the nails down to avoid the bub scratching herself, she has instead given her a 'baby manicure'.
Posting a photo of the Reddit's thread of the, ah, different look, the baby's hand can be seen with long nails sculpted into an almond shape.
The mum, who posted anonymously, was met with a stream of angry comments, some even likening the move to child endangerment.
"Baby nails are sharp enough as it is, those things would tear your face right up," warned one.
"More importantly, THE BABIES (sic) face. An itchy eye could result in permanent blindness," another added.
One irate user simply said 'The stupidity of some people ...words fail me'.
Others shared how their kids had been left with permanent scars from scratching themselves as newborns and how they had had to sleep with mittens on.
"This is going to end badly,' added one, while another felt the look was in poor taste 'THIS is truly trashy!"
The thread has 2.2 million followers and is a place for 'trashy stories, trashy glamour, all things fake and downright trashy', but the photo was too much for one user, who questioned if this was endangering the baby.
"Would this count as child abuse or endangerment if the child hurt itself with these nails?" they wrote. "It's technically giving a child several sharp objects."
Others questioned if they were acrylics and said they hoped they had been Photoshopped.
"Please tell me this is Photoshopped!!! What kind of parent would allow a baby's nails to grow long, much less turn them into weapons?"
