About Advertising with Essential Baby

Reach your Market through Essential Baby (EB).

Essential Baby is Australia's largest parenting site and also one of the largest sites dedicated to Australian women.

Essential Baby was founded in 1999 - an independently owned and operated business - 'founded and run by mums for mums', We provide a broad range of resources and information to Australian women through both an online and retail presence.

After 7 years, working independently at building such a large community EB joined the Fairfax Digital network as of January 2007. Operating one of the largest online communities in Australia was an extremely challenging job for an independent team, particularly over the last year as online visitor numbers tripled! With so many exciting opportunities to explore to make EB even better for members, the EB Team are thrilled to have the support of such an experienced team.

This new opportunity with Fairfax Digital will enable us to further develop exciting opportunities for our members - including the first ever Member Meet held in Melbourne in May 2008, with plans of more member events to come across Australia.

We'd like to thank our readers, volunteers and advertisers who have made us such a success to date, and who we can now serve even better in the future.

EB attracts women at all stages of the parenting cycle including conception, pregnancy, early motherhood and parenting. EB also provides a platform to a large audience of Australian women.

EDM Best Practice

Tailor your message
Your email campaign should cater to the different needs and circumstances of your target audience

Get to your point quickly
Your offer and call to action should stand out and be mentioned multiple times throughout your email

What’s the offer?
Think about why people would want to read your email – what’s in it for them?

Avoid relying on images
Emails are often viewed with the images turned off so copy should appear as HTML

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) in EDMs
There are many different types of email programs and it is likely your email will display differently across each of them. For this reason we ask you not to put CSS in the header tags or link to a CSS file since many email programs will not recognise it.

You may wish to use standard in-line CSS coded HTML e.g. as opposed to . If so, please refer to the attached guide from Campaign Monitor which details the programs that support CSS.

Please note, Outlook 2007 uses Word 2007 to display HTML email and not Internet Explorer, which strips out all CSS. Our advice is to keep your email design simple to ensure your email will appear as intended.
